Personal Care
Personal care supports relate to assistance with daily personal activities for individuals with disability, including assistance with, or supervision of, personal tasks of daily life.
At HappyCarers, we offer a personal care assistant who supervises the daily life tasks of our clients to help them learn to live as independently as possible.
We know that each person has different needs and goals, so we try to customise our assistance with daily personal activities under the NDIS plan of each participant. Some daily personal care activities that we cover are:
- Personal hygiene including showering, bathing, oral hygiene, dressing and grooming; toileting, bladder and bowel management and menstrual care.
- Eating and drinking
- Attending appointments
- Use of aids and appliances
- Hearing and communication devices
- Mobility and transferring, for example moving in and out of bed and on or off the toilet
- Application of splints, basic first aid due to injuries sustained as a result of a participant’s disability
Personal care in disability refers to the essential support provided to individuals with disabilities to help them manage their daily living activities.
This crucial personal care assistance covers a wide range of tasks that many people typically perform independently but may be challenging for those with disabilities.
Personal care support can include help with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating. It may also involve assistance with mobility, medication management, and basic health-related tasks.
The goal of personal care is to promote independence, dignity, and quality of life for people with disabilities, allowing them to participate more fully in their communities and daily routines.
Personal care support is tailored to each individual’s specific needs and abilities, ensuring they receive the right level of assistance to maintain their well-being and autonomy.
Personal care in the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) refers to support services that assist individuals with daily living activities. This can include help with tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating. The goal is to enhance the individual’s independence and quality of life, ensuring they can engage in daily routines and participate fully in their community. Personal care supports are tailored to meet the specific needs of each participant, based on their individual goals and circumstances. More info on NDIS Personal Care
